Your Failure is Not Final
Do not gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light.
Micah 7:8
As long as you have breath, you have a chance! It may feel like the world is finished with you, but God is not! Maybe you failed, but you’re not a failure. You made a mistake, but you are not a mistake. There is power in rising up after the fall.
Key Points
1. It’s not about falling; it’s about getting back up. We are all going to fail at something at some point; we’re all going to make mistakes, the question is what will you do after the fall. Will you get back up?
“The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again” (Proverbs 24:16).
2. Your mistakes are a portal to possibility. God’s grace is there for us to learn from our failures and grow. If we will get back up, we will see that each mistake is a doorway to discovery not destruction.
“Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light” (Micah 7:8).
3. God doesn’t define you by your mistakes. Even Peter, after his worst mistake, after he denied Christ, was counted among the disciples and had his most powerful experience in the Upper Room! He was called by name after Jesus' resurrection.
“But go, tell his disciples and Peter …” (Mark 16:7).
4. There’s still life in you after the fall. The world may see you as washed-up and finished, but God sees your destiny beyond falling!
“… he fell down from the third story and was taken up dead. But Paul went down, fell on him, and embracing him said, “Do not trouble yourselves, for his life is in him” (Acts 20:9-10).
5. There’s value in restoration. Your life is a masterpiece, and your failures don’t have to be final. If you will allow God to restore you, His grace and mercy will make your future priceless!
“…to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness…” (Isaiah 61:3).
Final Thoughts
It is not in God’s plan for you to give up after you’ve made a mistake. Just like The Dream by Picasso, our value in Christ isn’t diminished because of our flaws. Our righteousness is not determined by how many times we fall, rather by the number of times we get back up!
You may have made bad choices, maybe you even got what you wanted … but you don’t have to keep what you got. Trade in your failures for forgiveness, pick yourself up, and press forward to your destiny.
