The Right Diet
In John 6 we find Jesus feeding the 5000. Afterward Jesus admonished the disciples to not merely labor for food, but for the Bread of Life that never perishes. If you have Jesus, then you have everything you need. But are you willing to take all of it?
“You seek me not because you saw the signs, but because you ate the loaves and were filled.” John 6:26
Key Points
1. When there is distance between you and Jesus, there is a crosshair on your back. It’s just a matter of time until you become a target of the enemy.
2. When your diet is limited, you are vulnerable. You cannot only come to Jesus when you need a miracle or help.
3. Your diet has to include all that is on the table. You must take the discipline, sacrifice, and service along with the blessings. If you don’t eat it all, you will starve to death.
4. ALL scripture is equally important. You can’t just pick and choose the verses that bless you.
5. You need grace, but also truth. There is freedom, but there is also responsibility.
6. There is forgiveness, but there is also judgment. You’re subject to the consequences of your choices.
7. There is salvation, but there is so much more beyond that. Salvation is a journey that changes you.
8. There is blessing, but there is also BEING a blessing. We’re called to share the Bread. Serving others is a critical part of the life Christ calls us to.
There are seven Keys of Worship
1. Clapping
2. Lifting up Holy hands
3. Dance
4. Shout
5. Silence
6. Whisper
7. Sing
There is a time and a place for each of these. There are blessings and lessons in each of the seven. If you only participate in one or two, then you will miss what God wants to teach you in the others. Use the FULL menu.
Final Thoughts
You can’t just pick and choose your way through the Christian life. There is grace and liberty and prosperity, but those are only a few of the things on the menu. A limited menu makes you vulnerable. If you stay in the shallow, you will never learn to swim. You can’t just eat the blessings of God and expect to have strength and hope in the storm. Faith comes through the challenges of life. You don’t serve the Lord for what He can do for you—you do it because it’s the right thing to do. You do it because serving others is on the menu.
