Defeating The King Of Pride (Part 2)

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs.” Ephesians 4:29

The first way to know that you have a “Leviathan” or prideful spirit is if you no longer desire to pray. The next thing you need to watch for is the words coming out of your mouth. Ask yourself, “How do I talk to people? Do I speak harshly? Do I communicate in a way that tells people I think I am better than them?”

Jesus never held Himself above anyone. He would often stoop down to the people who were the outcasts of society—people who had cheated on their husbands, stolen tax money from the community, or were homeless and living on the streets. No matter what you have accomplished in life, never allow pride to make you feel like you are better than someone else. God blesses us to be a blessing, not to make us arrogant and ugly to people.

Proud people think they are entitled to be harsh and demeaning with their words. They are like fire-breathing dragons when they enter a room. They say whatever comes to their mind. Whether it’s online or in person, we will all have to give an account for our words one day. Don’t forget where you came from. Don’t forget how helpless and pitiful you were and would be had not God raised you up. God calls us to love everyone because we are all His children.
