Can You Smell The Milk And Honey?

“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:57

Ted Bundy was one of the most notorious serial killers in U.S. history. Even today, psychologists struggle to understand how a human being could carry out the horrific acts he committed against his victims. In a prison interview with Dr. James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family Ministries, Bundy revealed something disturbing. He admitted that violent pornography had been the primary driving force behind his crimes. “I was essentially a normal person and I led a normal life except for this one very potent and destructive segment of it that I kept very secretive,” he confessed. He also said, “I’ve lived in prison for a long time now and I’ve met a lot of men who were motivated to commit violence just like me, and without exception, every one of them was deeply involved with and consumed by an addiction to pornography.”

Your life tends to move in the direction of the dominant images you allow to take root in your mind. This is an example of how vision often works in reverse- you see it internally before it becomes reality. That is how the human mind operates. Ed Cole, a great minister and founder of the Christian Men’s Network, once said, “The most powerful thing that can be done in one’s life is to create an image.” You may need to physically be around someone who is where you want to be or spend time in an environment where great things are happening, even if only for a day.

There was a young man in the church who dreamed of owning a house. It seemed like an impossible goal, but he began visiting the home he wanted regularly. He imagined holding Bible studies there and hosting good friends. Sooner than expected, he was able to purchase the house. His vision became a reality, and it eventually became a vibrant gathering place for young people holding weekly Bible studies. God understands that you will never fully possess your promised land until you first see it. That is why He sent out the twelve spies to scout the land and report back. God wanted the Israelites to develop a hunger for where they were going before they arrived.

You will never accomplish your dream until you see it clearly for yourself.

In the same way, you will never accomplish your dream until you see it clearly for yourself.

Pray this prayer today: “God, I ask you to stir up a godly vision within me. Give me a new picture for this season. Direct my eyes toward the path you want me to follow. Forgive me for allowing images of defeat to dwell in my mind. Please replace them with visions of success, health, fulfillment, a joyful marriage, and a blessed family. Drop a photograph of faith into my spirit right now, and give me the courage to rise to new levels. Let everything I do bring glory to your name. Amen.”
