Keep Dreaming Anyhow
“He dreamed yet another dream.” Genesis 37:9
The Bible says, “When his (Joseph’s) brothers saw him coming, they hated him for the dream that was inside of him.” Did you know the devil hates dreamers? Satan is afraid of people who dare to dream and believe in better and greater things. Even though Joseph’s brothers hated him for his first dream, the amazing thing was that he kept on dreaming! And his second dream was bigger than his first.
Never let anyone make you stop dreaming. When Joseph’s brothers threw him into the pit, they stripped his coat off. This coat represented his father’s favor. There will be times on the journey to your dream when there are no outward signs of favor. You must learn never to use outward circumstances to judge whether God’s favor is in your life. You will go through tough seasons, but never doubt who you are and who your Father is!
Joseph had worn that coat of favor and he knew who he was. No pit or hardship could tear him away from God. So what do you do when your resources seem to be drying up and your opportunities feel like they are going away?
When Joseph was in the pit, it was Judah who saved him. “Judah” in Hebrew means “praise.” When you have been stripped of outward favor and find yourself in a dried-up well, and nothing seems to be working, it is time to start praising. Don’t allow the enemy to kill your dream with negativity and circumstances. When things get hard, begin to praise God for what He is going to do anyway! Praise Him that resources are coming and the doors are about to open wide. Praise will run discouragement out of your life and defeat out of your mind! Praise will remind you that nothing is impossible for an all-powerful God.
As Joseph sat in that dried up well, it did not look like the dream was going to happen, but God was still working. You may not see it in your current circumstances, but God is working on your behalf and you will see your dream come into fruition if you just keep believing “anyhow.”
