Your Future Self Is Coming!
"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12:2 (NKJV)
You need to understand this truth right now: your biggest obstacle to the vision God has given you might just be your present self. It’s not the devil. It’s not the circumstances. It’s you - the person you are today, with all your doubts, fears, and limitations.
God’s vision for your life is always bigger than who you are right now.
It calls for a better version of yourself - someone stronger, wiser, more disciplined, and more faithful than the person staring back in the mirror today. If you aren’t careful, your present self will talk you out of your future self. You will hear the lie that you aren’t capable, that you don’t deserve it, or that you will never change. But that is a lie straight from the enemy.
Look at Abraham. When God gave him his vision, his name was Abram. But by the time that promise came to pass, God called him Abraham, father of many nations. God transformed him from his present self into the man who could carry out that vision.
Look at Jacob, whose name meant “liar” and “deceiver.” God changed him into Israel, a prince with God, favored and powerful. He went from a worm to a prince.
Your future self is coming too. Maybe right now you feel weak, broken, or stuck in your struggles. Maybe your present self is weighed down by addiction, fear, or failure. But the God who parted the Red Sea, who walked through fire without burning, and who shut the mouths of lions is the same God who is shaping your future self.
Don’t let your present self kill the future self God is raising up in you. The vision is bigger than your current resources, bigger than your mistakes, and bigger than the person you are today. You have a future self - stronger, wiser, victorious. So don’t give up. Keep walking toward the vision God has placed before you. Transformation takes time, but your future self is coming!
