God Knows What He’s Going to Do
“The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” Job 1:21 (ESV)
You may feel like your world is crashing all around you. Maybe everything is falling apart in one day, like it did for Job. He was the most blessed man around. He had ten children, plenty of possessions, servants, and land. Then suddenly, one after another, bad news hit. His flocks were stolen, his servants kidnapped, barns burned down. Then came the worst news: all ten of his children were killed in a single day. Just when you think it can’t get worse, Job was covered with painful boils and left brokenhearted, confused, and wondering where God was in all this.
Job did not have the answers. His friends left him, his wife told him to curse God and die. He scraped himself with broken pottery and wrestled with grief, despair, and confusion. But God knew what He was doing. Even when Job could not understand his trial, God had a plan. He knew the battle behind the scenes. He knew how Satan challenged Job’s faith and how God allowed this test for a purpose. God was showing the principalities and powers that a man can suffer and still trust God, still worship Him, even when everything is stripped away.
And here’s the incredible truth: God restored Job. He gave him double what he had lost. Ten more children. Twice the livestock. Twice the blessings. And through Job’s story, God left us a book full of hope for when life feels unfair and cruel.
You might be in your darkest night right now. Maybe you’re sick, lonely, broken, or feeling forgotten. But God sees you. He knows your pain. He knows your heartache. And He knows what He will do. You can shout over your circumstances because God promises restoration. He’s still on the throne, working all things for your good.
Faith is believing God when you don’t see it yet.
Faith is holding on when hope feels distant. Like Job said, “The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” Let that be your song. Your confidence.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for knowing my pain and never leaving me. Help me trust you when I don’t understand what’s happening. Strengthen my faith to believe that you are working all things for my good. Restore what has been lost and give me hope for tomorrow. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
