Hello, Pastor Jentezen, from Haiti,
We just finished another food distribution with the food that you have been supporting for a long time. There are other villages that we still have to get to; they are in rough areas now, so we are starting with the safest ones we can get to and then, trying to get to the others when we know the road is clean.
These poor women come from a rough area near us, called, "Nan Plezi." The distribution was peaceful and everyone was so, so thankful for the food. In these poor areas, women and children suffer the most ... A lot of men have left their wives and children and have gone ahead to the Dominican Republic. They have not come back, and this is the case for many women here in Haiti.
If these mothers don't have food for their children, what will their children eat tonight? Nothing. They will, more than likely, put salt on their children's tongues and tell them to go to sleep. Or, they will tell their children to "sleep on their stomachs," so they won't feel the pain of hunger. But, that pain will still be there in the morning.
There are no words we can say that would ever be enough to express our heartfelt thanks, Pastor Jentzen. We know the economy in the states is bad, and your precious partners make sacrifices for children and families in Haiti whom they have never met. This is the heart of God!
