You Helped Lift Spirits in Haiti: A Weekend of Joy at Gwo Mache Mirak
What a powerful reminder of what your generosity can do!
This past weekend in Fond Parisien, Haiti, something beautiful happened—something that reminded the people there that they are seen, loved, and not forgotten.
For four whole days, the community gathered at Gwo Mache Mirak, the large open-air market that you helped us build. And for those four days, the heavy cloud of gang violence and fear lifted. One ministry partner told us, “Everyone forgot about the gangs for four days! Spirits were lifted.”
There was music—both a Christian band and local Haitian musicians. There was food, laughter, dancing, and even a man balancing a chair on his nose! The market was alive with the smells of local vendors cooking, families celebrating, and joy radiating through every corner.
Sunday morning, young men we’ve helped disciple and support, held a church service right in the market, calling everyone to come just as they are. Many Haitian churches turn people away if they have tattoos, braids, or long hair. But at Gwo Mache Mirak, the Gospel was preached with open arms and open hearts.
This market is more than a place to buy and sell—it’s a place where lives are being changed, hope is being restored, and the light of Jesus is shining brightly.
To every friend and partner who gave, thank you. Your support helped make this million-dollar project possible. And this weekend, it proved once again that what we build in obedience, God uses for His glory.
To our dear friends Bobby and Sherry Burnette and the entire Haitian team, thank you for your faithfulness and incredible work.
Let’s keep showing up. Let’s keep giving. Let’s keep loving people.
