Step Out On A “Maybe”

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that he exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6

When astronauts go into space, they experience something called “zero gravity.” Their bone density and muscle mass begin to fade away and they get weaker and weaker the longer they are in space because there is no resistance to challenge their muscles. Gravity requires that we pull against a force to walk, jump, or move. Resistance makes you stronger. Uncertainty is part of God’s plan for your life, and many times you will have to overcome fear and walk in faith.

Sometimes God will call you to run away from security and chase uncertainty to see His incredible destiny for your life fulfilled.

Some people will only do what God tells them to do if He tells them exactly when and how, provides GPS directions, and hands them a wallet full of money. There’s nothing wrong with being wise, but many people hide behind logic even though a God-given opportunity could open up great doors for them. First Samuel 14:6 describes the mentality that pleases God. In this passage, Jonathan said to his young armor-bearer, “Come, let’s go over to the outpost of those uncircumcised men. Perhaps the Lord will act on our behalf. Nothing can hinder the Lord from saving, whether by many or by few.” His armor bearer replied, “Do all that you have in mind. Go ahead; I am with you heart and soul.” Jonathan knew they were greatly outnumbered. There were only two of them. But he had faith and said, “Perhaps the Lord will act on our behalf,” and he stepped out on a “maybe.”

What do you do when all you’ve got is a maybe? You don’t quit. You don’t give up. If you know God is giving you an opportunity, step out and take a chance. It may look scary and require a sacrifice in the beginning. It may stretch you and challenge you to your max. Stepping out on a “maybe” will require you to shake off the spirit of fear. Faith is the loss of control. But when God is in control, amazing things can happen.

Seeing great things happen in your life may require stepping out into an uncomfortable place, but God turns “maybes” into miracles when you obey His voice and do what He tells you to do!
