The Way Of The Eagle (Part 2)
“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.” Ezekiel 36:26
When an eagle grows old, calcium deposits begin to form on its beak. Over time, this buildup makes eating difficult, and the beak may even grow shut. The eagle starts to lose its desire to hunt, eat, or care for itself. Once a majestic ruler of the skies, it now stays close to the ground. Its shoulders droop, and its feathers begin to fall out, losing their former shine.
But then something awakens within the eagle. It remembers what it once was. It was the king of the air. And that memory sparks a turning point. When it can no longer feed itself, the eagle begins a painful but purposeful journey. It climbs the mountain, hopping from rock to rock until it reaches the summit. There, it starts the process of renewal. It plucks out its old, worn feathers. Then it turns to its beak, now hardened and useless, and begins to strike it against the rock. It's a bloody, agonizing process, but eventually, the old beak breaks off. In time, a new beak grows in its place.
Perhaps you find yourself in a season where you desperately need renewal. Maybe you're weighed down by grief, addiction, fear, or defeat. Maybe your spirit feels grounded, but you were made to soar. There is hope. You can begin to climb back up the mountain. God is your rock- strong, unshakable, and ever present. When you come to Him, He will start breaking up the hard ground of sorrow and sin. He will give you a new heart, a renewed spirit, and a fresh start.
You don’t have to live in the low places any longer. You were made to rise again.
After the eagle undergoes its amazing transformation, it will spread its wings and launch off the mountainside. It will reclaim the heights, and every creature in the valley will know that something has shifted when they hear the ear-piercing screech of the renewed eagle in the sky! It is soaring high again and is screaming out a praise to its Creator. You, too, can reclaim your place in the heights. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Let Him renew you. Your latter days will be greater than the former. You were not made to stay down. You were made to rise and soar.
