Real Faith Is Persistence

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5

Mark 11 says, “Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you receive it, and it will be yours.” That is your job. Believe you will receive. If you feel like you cannot hear from God, then read His Word. Keep reading until it comes alive in you. The Word is alive, and God will speak through it.

Look at the story of the Canaanite woman in Matthew 15. Her daughter was tormented by a demon, and she came crying out to Jesus. At first, He did not respond. Then He told her He was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel. Still, she did not give up. She worshiped Him and said, “Lord, help me.” Worship is powerful. Sometimes healing comes in the atmosphere of worship because hearts open up in the presence of God.

Even when Jesus said, “It’s not right to give the children’s bread to the dogs,” she answered, “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the crumbs from the master’s table.” And Jesus said, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.” Her daughter was healed that very hour. She did not give up. She took one crumb of truth, and it brought a miracle.

If a dog under the table can get a miracle from one crumb, what about us? We are not dogs under the table. We are sons and daughters at the table. We do not just have crumbs- we have the whole loaf. Jesus said, “I am the bread of life.” God said, “To those who received Him, He gave the right to become children of God.” That is who you are. You do not have to beg like an outsider. You belong at the table. If one crumb changed everything for her, imagine what the full promise can do for you.

That woman’s greatest strength was her persistence. She kept coming, even when it seemed like she was being pushed away.

Real faith does not back down.

It holds on. Like Jacob, who wrestled for the blessing and said, “I will not let go until You bless me,” you must grab hold of God’s promise and not let go until it becomes reality.

Real faith is persistence. It keeps coming. It does not stop in the face of discouragement. True faith believes in God no matter what. If God did it for a woman with a crumb of truth, how much more will He do for you, His child, sitting at His table?
