Blessings and Obedience (2)

Moving from the bag level to the next level of financial blessing requires an act of faith. When you obey God, you step into miracle territory. In 1 Kings 17, Elijah paid a visit to a widow who had just enough flour left in her barrel and just enough oil to make one last small cake for herself and her son. The drought had become so bad that people were starving. She intended for that small cake to be the last meal she and her son would ever have.

But then Elijah showed up in her life, and of all things, the prophet asked her to make him a cake first! Now, there was “just enough” for her and her son. But the woman took a step of faith and obeyed. At the moment she obeyed, something supernatural happened.

“The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the LORD which He spoke by Elijah” (1 Kings 17:16, NKJV). The barrel where she kept her flour was transformed! When she obeyed and gave her last meal to the prophet, the widow went from the bag level to the barrel level, which is just enough. Every day for three and half years, the widow had just enough to feed herself and her son. I believe as we grow in faith, God wants to move us from “not enough” to “just enough” to meet our needs.
