Believe You Can (Part 2)
“Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.” Psalms 37:4
Nobody’s “No” can compete with God’s “Yes.” When you begin to dream, there are going to be people who will try to shoot you down. It could be your boss, best friend, or even a family member. Joseph had a dream, and his brothers hated him for it and threw him in a pit.
In 1962, Decca Records had the opportunity to sign a musical group, but the President of Decca Records said, “After hearing this band play, we don’t like that sound. Groups with guitars are on their way out.” The group that he passed up was called “The Beatles.” In 1977, the President of Digital Equipment Corporation was given the opportunity to invest in the dream of a young man by the name of Bill Gates. But this multi-million dollar company said, “There is no reason for any individual to have a computer in their home.” The late Clifford Roberts founded The Masters Golf Tournament. He said, “As long as I am alive, golfers will be white, and caddies will be black.” One year before he died in 1977, Tiger Woods won the Masters!
Maybe there are some people in your life who have been dumping on your dream. There will always be small-minded people around to tell you what you can’t be. But who are they to declare that the tremendous potential that God has put inside of you is not possible? Never undervalue what you are and overvalue what you’re not. You’ve got to believe in the dream that God has placed inside of you. You serve a God who owns the cattle on a thousand hills, and He is big enough, rich enough, and smart enough to make your dream happen!
