Family Circus (Part 3)

"A threefold cord is not quickly broken." Ecclesiastes 4:12 (NKJV)

Marriage isn’t just about happiness—it’s about holiness. It’s about two people, side by side, climbing closer to God. And the closer you each get to Him, the closer you draw to one another. When God is at the center, even the most broken marriage can begin to heal. But when you drift from God, you start drifting from each other. Slowly. Silently. Sometimes painfully.

Maybe you’ve felt that distance. Maybe the lion has gotten loose in your tent. The lion of temptation, bitterness, addiction, pride, or neglect. Maybe you look at your marriage or your family right now and wonder, “Can this even be saved?” It feels like the damage is too much. The intimacy is gone. The friendship is fading. The kids are hurting. The trust is shattered. And you’re just tired. But God says there’s hope—even if all you’ve got left is a leg and an ear.

In the book of Amos, a lion attacks a lamb, and only two parts remain: the leg and the ear. But the shepherd doesn’t walk away. He redeems what’s left. Maybe that’s you. You’ve got just enough strength to stand. Just enough faith to hear. And that’s all God needs. If you’ll listen for His voice and stand on His Word, He can restore what the lion devoured.

He can heal what looks hopeless. He can rebuild what seems finished.

You may be thinking about walking away, but today is your invitation to come back home. To try again. To climb that mountain with your spouse—toward God—and toward each other. It’s not too late for healing. It’s not too late for a miracle in your house. Your prayers for your family matter; they are stacked up in heaven as a memorial. Keep praying. Keep standing. God hasn’t forgotten you.

Pray this powerful prayer: “Jesus, we need you at the center of our home. We’ve let things drift. We’ve let lions in. But today, we want to stand again and hear your voice. Restore what’s been lost. Heal what’s been broken. And draw us close to you and closer to each other. Amen.”
