No Explanation, Just An Invitation (Part 2)

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” Psalms 23:4

All throughout the Bible, we see God using different people in different ways. Some experienced greater hardships than others. Elijah was taken into Heaven in a fiery chariot. He never had to experience death. (2 Kings 2:11) His protege, Elisha, who performed double the miracles, died in a sick bed. (2 Kings 13:14) Simon Peter and James were in the same prison cell. James was taken from the cell and beheaded. Peter was scheduled to be executed next, but God sent an angel to open the door and remove his chains, and he walked out unharmed. (Acts 12:1-11) The Apostle Paul had a “thorn in the flesh” that he begged God to take from him, but God told him, “My grace is sufficient for you.” (2 Corinthians 12:9) God’s ways are higher than our ways. He knows things that we do not yet know.

Maybe you are in a situation where you are wondering why one person got a miracle but you did not. Perhaps you are in a position that makes you question the goodness of God. But true faith says, “I’ll follow you if it’s to death, or if it’s to a miracle.” James’ life and death brought glory to God. He is in Heaven in a mansion, enjoying the sweet fellowship of God. His assignment on earth was complete. Peter’s was not.

You may not understand why you are having to go through a hardship or a loss, but there is an unseen purpose taking place that you are not aware of. Deuteronomy 29:29 says, “The secret things belong to the Lord.” There will be things in this life that you will never understand on this side of Heaven, but you have to trust that God is working it all out for the good of you and your family. Everything is interwoven into His plan for your life and the lives that you touch. God did not create the sun until the fourth day.

God works in the darkness just as easily as He does in the daylight.

If you are feeling the heaviness of life right now, know that you are not alone. If a rough road is the path you are on right now, take God’s hand and let Him lead you through. He knows what’s at the end of it.
