Beware of Spiders’ Webs

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Romans 12:2

Isaiah 59 describes the state of a fallen world. The description sounds a lot like America today, “They trust in empty words and speak lies. They conceive evil and bring forth iniquity. They hatch vipers’ eggs and weave spiders’ webs. He who eats their eggs dies, and a viper breaks out from that which is crushed.” Like a spider, Satan lays traps for people. He spins webs of alcoholism, addiction, pornography, fornication, homosexuality, and immorality. First, he gets you entangled, and then he injects his poison into your spirit.

There are different kinds of spiders. There’s a spider called the wolf spider that chases its victims. There’s a spider called the jumping spider that pounces like a cat against its victim. There’s a spider called the crab spider that can change colors to blend in with the environment for a surprise attack.  Spiders all eventually drain the life out of their victims.

And that’s what the enemy is trying to do to every believer. There is a generation getting entangled in the spider’s web. When the philosophies of man replace the truth of God’s Word suddenly, life means nothing. Marriage and family no longer hold any value. Going to church and reading the Bible isn’t a priority. It just becomes what you only run to when an emergency arises. Satan does not want you to have a vital relationship with Jesus. He wants to drain you of faith, purpose, and conviction.

In this world, you cannot remain neutral. You cannot ride the fence. There is a fundamental divide coming. You’re either going to be wheat, or you’re going to be tare. You’re either going to be on fire for God, or you’re going to be playing Christianity. God knows the difference, and so does Satan. Stand truth up on its feet today, and God will clean out the cobwebs. He will kill the spider. Ask God to reveal any sin in your life that could entangle you or your family. It is not God’s will that any of His people live in bondage. Who the Son set free is free indeed!
