Fizzle to Sizzle: Talk about It!

And Then We Were One
Do you know the Bible talks about sex?
In Song of Solomon the 6th chapter, Solomon praises his woman. “Your lips are like a strand of scarlet, and your mouth is lovely. Your temples behind your veil are like a piece of pomegranate. Your neck is like the tower of David, built for an armory, with a thousand bucklers and shields of mighty men hanging on it. Your breasts are like two fawns, twins of a gazelle…” This scripture needs to be discussed because if we don’t own the subject of sexuality, the world and our culture will and it will be perverted and deranged.
One specific scripture says, “The marriage bed is undefiled.” Another translation said, “The marriage bed is wonderfully creative.” It should be. There are several reasons that God came up with the idea of sex; one is procreation and another reason is for our enjoyment and for our satisfaction. God is not a God who has a problem with you enjoying a relationship with your wife or your husband. Christian couples need to get free in this area.
I think the church needs to get out of people’s bedroom. The bottom line is, the marriage bed is undefiled. It’s your marriage. Establish your own comfort zones, and as long as there’s not something violating scripture (like pornography or another person in the mix somewhere), it is permissible. Establish your own comfort zones, and if someone doesn’t’t want to do something, that’s where selfishness can enter and cause hurt and offense to creep in.
Some of you may feel shame trying to creep up on you because you have done something you know is sinful. Maybe you have looked at some things you know you had no business looking at...but remember that forgiveness, grace, mercy, and even restoration is yours for the asking. Grace makes all things new, the Bible said.
Men, we need to save ourselves as a locked up garden for our wives. We don’t give ourselves to pornography, we don’t give ourselves to websites, we don’t give ourselves to craziness, and we don’t give ourselves emotionally or physically to another woman (whether in person or online). We are to be a locked up garden. When we do those things, it will always be out of one motivation…selfishness.
I waited for 25 years, and it was worth the wait! God made it for me and you to enjoy. And when we start having happy homes and marriages, then our children will model after us.
