The Rock of Ages

“This Jesus is the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone. Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:11-12 (NKJV)

Let me tell you who my rock is. His name is Jesus. Acts 4 reminds us that the stone rejected by the builders has become the chief cornerstone. There is no salvation in anyone else. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.

Jesus is my Ebenezer, my stone of help.

Just as the name Ichabod marked the moment God’s glory departed, Ebenezer marks the glory coming back through Jesus Christ. He is the cornerstone of the church and of your life. Ephesians 2 says that we are built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Jesus Himself as the chief cornerstone. He is not just a part of your life; He is the one who holds it all together.

Think about it—He helps you in your family, your marriage, your health, your calling, and your daily decisions. He is present in every detail, every trial, and every joy. David marveled at God’s faithfulness when He promised to build his house, and from that very house came Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. Who are we that God would bring us this far? Who are we that He would choose us to know His presence and to walk with Him?

Maybe today you’re in the heat of a trial. You feel the weight of life pressing on you. But 1 Samuel 11:9 gives us hope: “By the time tomorrow about this time, by the time the sun gets hot, you shall have help.” God knows how much you can bear. He does not abandon you in the fire. He waits until the heat reveals your faith and deepens your trust. And then, right when you need it, His help comes through.

So today, lift your eyes to Jesus, your stone of help. He has been faithful. He is faithful. And He will be faithful.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, You are my cornerstone, my rock, my stone of help. Thank You for being my foundation and my strength in every season. When the trials get hot, remind me that You are with me and that help is on the way. I trust You today. Amen.
