The Blessing That Outlives You

Abraham was one of the most significant men in the history of the world, but he was not a perfect man. When faced with a famine, he moved in fear instead of faith. Any time you make decisions out of fear, you will mess up. But when you make a decision out of faith, it will not just go well with you but can affect future generations.

Key Scriptures:

Genesis 12:1-14; Genesis 20:2-3; Genesis 26:7; Jeremiah 32:18; Job 21:19; Hosea 4:6; II Corinthians 12:14; Hosea 4:6; Psalm 103:17; Luke 1:50; II Timothy 1:5; II Kings 19:32-34; Psalm 105:8

Key Points:

  1. You are setting patterns. Learn the first time; do not repeat the same mistakes. What you do will affect the generations after you.
  2. The blood of Jesus breaks the cycles of the curse. Whatever bad cycles are in your family, the blessing of God can always break them. If curses can be passed down, so can blessings! Through Christ, you can pass down a godly inheritance to your family.
  3. Every deed produces a seed. Every battle you face is not just about you but about generations that will come after you.
  4. How you treat God's Word is how God will treat your children. If you love your children, you should love the Bible. When you teach your children the Bible, you pass down a generational blessing!
  5. Eat the fish and spit out the bones. No one is perfect. If you did not have the perfect father, there is still something good you can receive from him, even if all he did was go to work every day and provide for your family.
  6. You can store up blessings that outlive you. Even after you die, God can bless your descendants. Like God blessed David’s family, He will bless your family, overlooking their faults, because of how you served God.

Final Thoughts:

Your decision and actions have consequences beyond what you can imagine. Will you choose to pass down curses or blessings? If you want your family to be blessed, appreciate those who have gone before you in the faith, teach your children to love God’s Word, and store up spiritual blessings for them that will outlive you!
