God Opportunities

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28

Revelation 3:7 tells us that God opens doors no man can shut and shuts doors no man can open! If God ever shuts a door on you, you can try to force it open, but it won’t happen. The Lord orders a righteous man's steps and stops. Don’t just thank God for the doors He’s opened! Thank Him for the ones He’s closed.

You have to learn to wait on the Lord. You may feel like He’s forgotten all about your situation, but if God ever shuts a door, just stay right where you are. Don’t let the devil depress and discourage you. The Bible said in Genesis 8:1, “And God remembered Noah.” He opened the door of the ark at just the right time. God knows what He is doing and is working it all for your good.

Elisha had to wait. He was told he would be a great prophet, but for years, he followed Elijah around and did menial tasks. But then, his faith began to build as Elisha witnessed miracle after miracle; after Elisha witnessed Elijah taken up in a chariot of fire to Heaven, he first picked up Elijah’s cloak and struck the water with it. For years Elisha had watched Elijah do the impossible with the leading of a mighty God. The scriptures say that when Elisha struck the water, it divided to the right and the left, and he crossed over, and the prophets all saw that he had Elijah’s mantle.

Serving in the background all those years showed God that Elisha could handle Elijah’s mantle one day. He even went on to do greater things! Be faithful where God has you today, and then watch and wonder where He will take you tomorrow!
