Get Them In the House

“By faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe, when she had received the spies with faith.” Hebrews 11:31 (NKJV)

Sometimes the greatest act of faith is simply getting your family in the house. Rahab’s story is shocking. She was a harlot, a woman with a past many would judge. Yet, God honored her faith and placed her in His Hall of Fame. Why? Because she brought her family into the protection of God’s promises.

Rahab didn’t ask for money or titles from the spies she hid. Instead, she asked for salvation, not just for herself, but for her entire household. She demanded a promise that everyone in her family would be saved, sealed under the blood by the scarlet cord hanging from her window.

That scarlet cord wasn’t just a symbol. It was a powerful reminder: get your family in the house. The house represents the church, the place of salvation, protection, and miracles. No matter how messy or unwilling your family might be, your job is to keep them close, to get them there.

Church isn’t optional. It’s not something to skip when life gets busy or inconvenient. It’s life or death. Nothing matters more than the salvation of your family. The blood of Jesus, symbolized by that scarlet cord, is stronger than peer pressure, stronger than bad influences, stronger than anything that tries to pull them away.

Imagine Rahab’s house that night—crowded, noisy, uncomfortable. Some family members might have rolled their eyes or complained. But she insisted. And when the walls of Jericho fell, the same family that resisted thanked her. They were alive because she got them in the house.

Parents, your faithfulness to bring your family to God’s house is a legacy that lasts.

Even if they don’t appreciate it now, one day they’ll thank you. Keep fastening that scarlet cord of Jesus’ blood over them daily. Speak their names in prayer. Stand firm. Like Rahab, you are a family hero. Your greatest success may be simply getting your family in the house. And that is enough. That is everything.
