Don’t Forget the Plan

You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked; but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I’m sure that after six months of bubble baths, massages, pedicures, manicures, pampering, the opulence of the palace, and the luxurious lifestyle Esther was afforded, she began to dull a little spiritually. If you are not careful, you may become so spiritually pampered and comfortable that you will forget there is a godly reason for being where you are. This is no time to get comfortable! There is still a plot to annihilate our children, our homes, our marriages, and our nation. You have a call of God upon your life; you have an appointment with destiny.

While Esther got comfortable and almost forgot her purpose, Mordecai put on sackcloth. (See Esther 4:1.) Sackcloth is ugly-looking clothing. He got ugly. Every now and then, we have to “get ugly” to get God’s attention. We have to afflict ourselves with fasting and prayer. Mordecai reminded Esther that she was not just there to look good and to wear beautiful clothing. No, there was a mission!

Do not think in your heart that you will escape in the king’s palace any more than all the other Jews. For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this? (Esther 4:13–14)

Don’t forget your purpose. To all of you Esthers out there—men and women—know that there is a plot to destroy your family. We all enjoy being pampered, but there is a battle to fight and a victory to win. There is a cause! Be anointed with the oil of the Holy Spirit; be perfumed with passionate praise for God. You have come to the kingdom for such a time as this. Jesus prayed, “Not My will, but Yours, be done” (Luke 22:42). Pray and expect God to give you the right plan for your life.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I pray now, at the conclusion of this thirty-day journey, that You will give me the right plan for my life. Lead me into Your will, Father. Guide me according to Your purposes. Not my will, but Yours be done. Help me to love, honor, and serve You in all that I do. Bring me into contact with the right people, in the right places, and in accordance with Your perfect and everlasting plan. In Your holy name I pray, amen.
