What Are You Hungry For?
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.” Matthew 5:6
Did you know that when you fast your prayers build a memorial in Heaven? Prayer and fasting builds things in the spirit world that will invade the natural world. In Acts 10, there is an extraordinary man named Cornelius. This Gentile man did not know Jesus or how to be saved but his devotion to God was remarkable. The Bible says, “He and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly.” Cornelius was hungry for God and this got God’s attention.
So one day God gave him a vision and an angel of the Lord told him to go visit a man named Simon Peter. God Himself was leading Cornelius to salvation!
Up to this point in history, the gospel had been confined to only the Jewish people. But as fate would have it, Peter was on the roof praying and fasting around that same time and God also gave him a vision. God showed Peter that no person is unclean who God deems clean. God wanted to show Peter His will for the salvation of the entire human race through Jesus. Peter accepted God’s plans and shared the gospel with Cornelius. Cornelius was reborn in Christ and history was made that day.
It’s crazy to think about how much hinged on the fasting and praying of those two men! We (Gentiles) are now grafted into God’s family and have a home in Heaven because of their hunger and love for God. Are you hungry for more of God? Are you hungry for His will and His plan? There’s no telling what untapped blessings could be waiting on the other side of your obedience.
