Structural Change
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes…I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it.” Revelation 2:17
Jacob, whose name meant “deceiver,” was in Bethel when he encountered God. He wrestled with God all night until God changed his structure by pulling his hip out of joint. God said (paraphrased), “Now that I have changed the structure of who you are, I’m changing your name from Jacob to Israel because you will not be the same person inwardly that you used to be.” From that day forward, Jacob walked with a limp.
God can also change the way you walk. Counseling and programs can help you stay on the right path but the power of Jesus is the only thing that can truly change the foundation of who you are.
In 2 Kings 13, the Bible said that the Israelites were burying a man’s body when suddenly a band of raiders showed up. They took the dead body and threw it in a cave. The cave just so happened to be where the bones of Elisha rested. And when the dead soldier of a new generation touched the old bones of the prophet, the Bible says, “the man came to life and stood on his feet.”
Anytime the proper structure is there, resurrection power is attracted to it. So if the enemy attacks you or your family, as long as you hold onto the word and the cross, resurrection power will show up.
It was prophesied that none of Jesus’ bones would be broken. The soldiers would break the knees of those being crucified in order to speed up the death process. During the crucifixion of Jesus, they broke the knees of both of the men who were hanging beside Him. But it is amazing that when they went to break the knees of Jesus, they could not because God had already taken Jesus to Heaven. The prophecy was fulfilled. God wanted the structure of the Savior to remain intact.
You may be going through a hardship but if you keep the structure God has designed for your life, resurrection power will be attracted to your situation. On the third day, Jesus came up out of the grave. You may feel like all you have left is a skeleton, but if the structure still stands, get ready for resurrection because God is not done with you and your family. Mom or dad, if you have built a foundation under your children, “the gates of hell will not prevail.” A miracle is on the way.
