A very real enemy

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
-John 10:10

I am not one to overemphasize the work of the devil. But even Jesus warned us that the devil only comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). He called the devil a murderer and the father of lies (John 8:44). In the Book of Revelation, John called him an old serpent who deceives the whole world (Rev. 12:9).

We have a very real enemy, and he first showed up in the Garden of Eden in the form of a serpent.

The good news is that you have the power to defeat him through Jesus Christ! Read the second half of John 10:10 again — “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” Jesus came so that we may have life . . . abundant life. No matter how the enemy is coming against you today, remember, that the snake is no match for Jesus.

THINK ABOUT IT–
In what ways have you seen the enemy attack your life and your family?

PRAYER FOR TODAY—
Heavenly Father,
Open my eyes to the attacks of the enemy in my life and in my family. Give me discernment and wisdom to see the snake for what he is. I know that my strength is found in You. Thank You for the abundant life You offer. Amen.
