Never Let Him Go

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39

Judas made this statement when he instructed the soldiers on how to capture Jesus: “When you get your hands on Him, don’t let Him go.” Unfortunately, Judas did not take his own advice, and after betraying Jesus, he ended his life in regret and sorrow.

Judas’ words can still apply to you today. If you ever get your hands on Jesus, never let Him go. It doesn’t matter how far you have fallen or how badly you have failed. Even if you have brought shame and disgrace to your family, don’t ever let Him go. Jesus will never let go of you if you don’t let go of Him. Your grip may be getting loose, but don’t let anything shake you away from Him.

If you have been liberated from alcoholism, drug addiction, pornography, or any perversion, hang on to that freedom. The Bible says there are seven more spirits out there waiting to take you deeper and further into sin and destruction than ever before. The bondage will be even greater. So hang on to Jesus and don’t give in. If you have been saved, cleansed, and made new, don’t get lured back into your old life. Keep coming back to Jesus, even when you mess up. Hang onto Him with all you’ve got.

Maybe you loved Jesus when you were younger, but when you got older, you let Him go. You may have let the distractions and enticements of the world pull you away. But Jesus is still looking for you and hoping that you will come back. Remember the haunting words of Judas, a man whose life ended in regret, “When you get your hands on Jesus, don’t let Him go.” Don’t get to the end of your life and realize that you let the most important thing slip through your fingers. Your relationship with Jesus will be what matters in the end.
