Life Is Less About You Than You Think
"In Him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will…” Ephesians 1:11
It’s encouraging to know that life is less about you than you think. When things happen in your life you should know that more is happening than you realize. It’s not all about you or your challenges and circumstances. John was in that prison, and he could have been thinking negatively about his current situation but Jesus sent a message to encourage him that there was a bigger picture.
Like John, sometimes we find ourselves in difficult situations. During these times it is easy to complain or become so focused on what is wrong that we forget that God is writing a bigger story. We can never lose hope that He has a plan that is going to work out perfectly. John never made it about himself. He looked to Jesus. He once said, “He must become greater; I must become less.” (John 3:30)
Don’t get consumed with the obstacle but instead focus on God. Life is less about you than you think and when you have the proper perspective, the answer to your problem could be just one prayer away. Stop looking around and start looking up.
One day there was a man stuck on the side of the road. His car had broken down, and he had the hood up. A big limousine suddenly pulled in behind him and a man got out. This man was dressed like a million bucks and he walked over in his suit and said, “Do you need some help?” And the man said yes. The man in the suit looked under the hood and said, “When I tell you, you just sit in there and hit the ignition and crank the car on.” He did something under the hood and said try it and the car started right up. The man said “My goodness, how did you do that? How much do I owe you?” And the man in the suit said, “You don’t owe me a thing. My name is Henry Ford. I’m the creator of this car you’re driving, and it really bothers me to see one broken down on the side of the road not doing what I created it to do.”
God created you with a purpose. He knows what He is doing. Rest easy and take your mind off of yourself. There is a bigger picture!
