Fashioned to Perfection

Your relationship with yourself is the first criteria upon which your relationship with other people and, ultimately, God is based. If you want a good relationship with God, it begins with feeling good about yourself.

When asked what the first and most important commandment was, Jesus replied,

‘Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is one. And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these” (Mark 12:29-31 NKJV).

Of all the commandments and laws in Scripture, Jesus summed it up by saying, “Love God with all of your heart, mind, soul, and strength. “And love your neighbor …” But here’s the catch – “… as you love yourself.”

When you love yourself, then you’ll know how to love others and God properly. But loving ourselves can often be the hardest part. If you have a low self-image … if you don’t like who you are … if you constantly criticize yourself, it will impact all of your relationships.
