Contend For Your Faith (Part 3)

“By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt because he was looking ahead to his reward.” Hebrews 11:24-26

In the book of Judges, we see a failing nation succumbing to its desires and forsaking their God. America is in the same predicament today—the people of Israel in the book of Judges worshiped two demon gods- Baal and Asherah. Baal was a male god, and Asherah was a female god. Baal means the god of fame, money, and success. In America, we're prioritizing these same “idols” over doing what is right in God's eyes. Asherah was a demon of lust. She represented pleasure, sex, beauty, and seduction. Today, in the Western culture, we have an invasion of the porn industry, sex trafficking, prostitution, and friends with benefits.

And even in the church, there is fornication, sexual immorality, and young people casually “hooking up.” Many no longer value marriage, saying, “We'll just move in and try it out and live together.” We must be careful when sin becomes so easy that we no longer have a conscience. When sin is mentally and verbally defended, there is something wrong. Today, many churches are striving to be “woke” to fit in with the culture despite what the Word of God says. Christians are willing to compromise on everything.

We, the church, must affect change. For example, Daniel was both biblical and political. He affected the whole political system when he went before Nebuchadnezzar and broke through the enemy's powers. Because of his courage, the whole system of that land was turned upside down. Esther was biblical, but she was also political. She used her platform to affect change and to push back the evil that was threatening her nation. Nehemiah was biblical and political and that's why he made a statement and led the people to rebuild the walls in 52 days. Joseph was political and biblical and he turned the famine economy into a magnificent, blessed, and prosperous economy. Mordecai was biblical and political and he affected the Queen of Israel. Moses was definitely biblical and was also involved in the political issues of his day. When he walked in and said to the king, “Let my people go” that was the start of a revolution that set Israel free from the bondage of Egypt. John the Baptist was political when he told King Herod, “It’s not right that you're sleeping with your brother's wife and I'm calling you out.” And they cut his head off for it. Paul was biblical and political. Read his writings. He said, “I appeal as a citizen of Rome.”

We as believers cannot get so caught up with money, fame, success, and pleasure that we fall asleep in the lap of the devil while our nation is being literally destroyed and is declining every day. You have to contend for the faith that was given to you. This is not a time to be on the sideline. This is no time for you to just say, “I’ll sit this one out.” This is the hour to get involved and create change. We cannot let everything great about this nation be destroyed and allow lies to replace the truth of God’s Word.
