The Spirit of Motherhood

For years, mighty men like Samson judged the Israelites, but in the days of Shamgar and Jael, God raised up a mother. Deborah saw the evil and danger in the roads of her city and took a stand, not as a warrior or judge, but as a mother. Where are the mothers that will take a stand for their family and build a road toward God?

Key Scripture:

Judges 5:6-7; 1 Samuel 27:10; Proverbs 31:10-29

Key Points:

  1. You make a road every day of your life, and your family will travel that road. If you make a road that is away from God, your children will likely follow. If you have made the wrong road for your family, you can get back on track. It is time for the mothers in America to stand up and make a new road that leads to life.
  2. No more hiding behind rocks. A good mother doesn’t sit at home and do nothing; she cares for her children and household and works hard for her family.
  3. Mothers are powerful because of the influence they have on their children. Great mothers all throughout the Bible leave legacies through the children they raise. Every great man of God in the Bible had a powerful mother. Even Jesus came through a long line of powerful mothers.
  4. An ounce of mother is worth a pound of the preacher. Women with the spirit of motherhood pray more than they play and teach their children to walk with the Lord. Your family is not going to get to Heaven by accident. But, as a parent, God always gives an A for effort; keep trying!

Final Thoughts:

Motherhood is not a small business. Think of how many cities and people have been saved and transformed by people with great mothers. There are no perfect parents, but God gives A’s for effort. Amid a world that is trying to take children down the wrong road, we need mothers that will clear out roads for their children. How many roads are you clearing for your children?
