Lessons From Lucifer’s Fall
Daily news reports buzz with the latest celebrity that has crumbled. We see child stars grow up to be miserable adults, often facing early deaths and broken lives. As tragic as it is, it is nothing new. I have personally met with some pretty well-known names in Hollywood. And you know what? They really aren’t much different than us. Just misguided.
Interestingly, Satan was not always the devil. As Lucifer, he was created to be the anointed cherub of worship, and possessed instruments inside of him. Lucifer chose to be evil. He chose to be the devil. He was dismissed from the presence of God because of his pride, self-exaltation and rebellion. He refused to worship God and required the admiration of himself.
It seems far-fetched, but we are also liable to fall to the same temptation. We worship things without even realizing. For some, its money, for others its fame and fortune, and for others, it’s the amount of followers you have on social media. But the common denominator is taking our eyes off of God, and putting them on ourselves.
Though we all fall short there is hope through His grace! You can flourish!
Surround yourself with true heartfelt worship and surrender yourself to God. He promises to give us His joy, peace, patience, goodness, faithfulness and self-control. No amount of notoriety or paycheck can compare with those things.
What is consuming your thoughts, today? Will you surrender them to the Lord? Let us be known as a people of praise!
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
1 Peter 2:9 (NIV)
