Turn Up the Fire

Sermon Notes 

Fire is essential to life, and it’s impossible to live for Jesus Christ without the fire of the Holy Ghost in your life. You must build and rekindle a spiritual fire to go where God wants you to go and do what God wants you to do. Turn up the fire!

Key Points:

1. The Holy Ghost is the fire of God. The church needs the Holy Ghost on every volunteer, security guard, musician, pastor, and offering. Get it in your body, in your bones, and let the passion of God burn through you. It will burn out sin and apathy and keep you from being lukewarm. 
2. There are four things you must do to build an altar for the fire of God:
   1. Build the right foundation. The fire of God will only fall on a solid foundation of the Word of God. You must believe in the virgin birth, the need for repentance, and Jesus Christ. No other religion or savior can save you, so build your life on the foundation of Jesus.
   2. Get in order. There is an order to God’s fire, and you have a role to play in it. Don’t let the fire burn on everyone else and not do anything yourself. Get serious about serving God and find where God has called you to be.
   3. Make the sacrifice. If there’s no sacrifice, there’s no fire. You’ll only have the fire in proportion to the sacrifice you offer to God. Make true sacrifices to God by giving your time, volunteering, and bringing tithes and offerings. Never think you’re too big or important that you stop bringing your sacrifices to God.
   4. Pray fervent prayers. The Church needs the fire of fervent, intense, and passionate prayer. When you pray with passion, things change. Seek, ask, and knock with intensity!
3. Get an out-of-control fire. The fire of the Holy Ghost doesn’t care how much you know or how much money you make. Fire will burn anywhere and anything if you get it big and hot enough. You can get a big enough fire burning that the devil can’t put it out. If you get the fire hot enough, it will burn under whatever water the Devil tries to flood your life with.
4. It’s time for the fire to burn again. If you give God the fuel, He will bring the fire. If you get fire hot enough, it can even light burnt-over fields of complacency. The fire of the Holy Ghost will burn again. If you desire it, God’s fire will find you.
5. Get on fire enough to touch someone around you. Become a soul on fire for God. One spark can set thousands on fire. Let the fire get down in the sewer of your soul, purge every rat and flea of sin, and send you out to reach others. 

Final Thoughts:

You need the fire of the Holy Ghost in every area of your life. It burns out every sin and disease and gives you the fuel to run fast and far for God. Turn up the fire and set the world ablaze!
