Power Follows Passion (Part Three)
"And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, 'Who touched My clothes?'" Mark 5:30 (NKJV)
In Mark chapter 5, we read about a woman with an issue of blood who had suffered for twelve long years. She had tried everything, spent all she had, and yet nothing worked. Logic said it couldn’t happen. Tradition said she was ceremonially unclean and couldn’t even touch anyone. Crowds surrounded Jesus. Her opportunity seemed impossible. But she pressed past all of that. She said to herself, “If I can but touch the hem of His garment, I will be made whole.”
Notice what happened next. Jesus was walking through the crowd, hundreds touching Him, but He stopped and asked, “Who touched Me?” The disciples were confused. How could He ask that when so many were pressing in? And then He said, “I felt virtue (power) go out of Me.” Only one person had the passion that released the power of God. Hundreds touched Him. Only one entered the breakthrough. Passion, not proximity, unlocks power.
This woman’s story teaches us a profound truth: God’s power responds to passion. She wasn’t satisfied with ordinary encounters. She didn’t wait politely in line. She refused to let logic dictate her destiny. She believed with every fiber of her being that this moment could change her life. Her persistence and intensity unlocked a new dimension of God’s power.
And the ripple effect is even more astounding. After her breakthrough, Matthew 14 tells us that multitudes began to touch the hem of His garment and were healed. One person’s passion released a flow of power that others could follow. Compassion and desire fueled by faith inspire movement in the Spirit of God. Power follows passion, and passion pushes beyond fear, doubt, and impossibility.
Don’t let logic, fear, or the crowd stop you. Step forward with boldness. Press past limitations. Touch the hem of His garment with all that you have, because your passion invites God’s power into your life.
Prayer: Lord, ignite a fire in my heart that refuses to be satisfied with ordinary. Give me the courage to press past fear, doubt, and logic, and to reach for You with all my passion. Let Your power flow through me as I pursue You with relentless faith. I touch the hem of Your garment today, believing that Your Spirit will bring breakthrough, healing, and new life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
