Get Up and Praise

“For by you I can run through a troop; by my God I can leap over a wall.” Psalms 18:29 (KJV)

Life will throw battles at you—some expected, some completely out of the blue. David knew this better than most. He lived a life full of triumphs and tragedies, victories and defeats, highs and lows. Yet, as he looked back on his 70 years, he recognized one unchanging truth: it was God who carried him through it all.

David didn’t claim the credit for himself. He didn’t boast in his strength, cleverness, or strategy. He knew it wasn’t the positive mindset or working harder that got him through the dark days. It was God. That same God who helped David leap over walls, both literal and metaphorical, is the same God at work in your life today.

Take a moment to reflect. Think about the battles you’ve faced. Bring into memory all the storms, heartbreaks, losses, addictions, failures, and fear. And yet, here you are. You made it through. Not by luck. Not by your strength. By God. Every scar, every lesson, every tear has been evidence of His faithfulness and protection.

David’s life reminds us that we can celebrate even on the hardest days. Praise is not conditional. It’s not limited to good circumstances. Even in the valleys, God is present. Even in the darkest nights, His light guides the way. Every mountain climbed, every wall scaled, every enemy faced—it all testifies that God’s power is sufficient, and His love never fails.

Your testimony is powerful. It encourages others. By recounting what God has brought you through, you remind someone else that they, too, can endure. That’s why gratitude matters, not just in easy moments, but in the storms. Say it aloud: “Through it all, God brought me through. By my God, I made it through.”

Let this be your declaration today. Trust Him in the mountains and the valleys. Thank Him for the victories and the lessons in the losses. Your life, like David’s, is a living song of God’s faithfulness.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for bringing me through every trial, every heartache, and every challenge. Help me to trust You more deeply with every step I take. May my life testify of Your faithfulness, and may I praise You in all circumstances, knowing that by You, I can overcome anything. In Jesus’ name, amen.
