Faithful With Little, Trusted With Much
“And he said to him, ‘Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities.’” Luke 19:17 NKJV
One of the hardest lessons to learn is that God does not promote the faithfulness we plan to have someday. He responds to the faithfulness we practice today. Until we do it well where we are, God will not entrust us with more. Scripture is clear. Do not despise the day of small things. Do not place little value on what looks small in your hands. Jesus taught this truth in Luke 19 through the parable of the talents. Each servant was given something to steward. One received more. Another received less. But the issue was never the amount. The issue was value. One servant looked at his single talent and decided it was not worth much. He compared himself to others, minimized what he had, and hid it. He did nothing because he convinced himself it was too small to matter.
The others did not make excuses. They invested what they were given. They worked with what was in their hands. When the master returned, Jesus revealed a powerful kingdom principle. Faithfulness in small things leads to authority in greater things. One servant was given authority over ten cities, not because he started with much, but because he was faithful with little. Destiny tomorrow was tied directly to obedience today.
God has always worked this way. When He delivered Israel from Egypt, He did not use a lion or an eagle. He used a lamb. Something small. Something overlooked. Something the enemy would never fear. But God knew the devil despises small things, while heaven specializes in them. What looks insignificant to people can become unstoppable when God breathes on it.
Many people say, if I had more influence, more resources, more opportunity, then I would really do something for God. But that is not how the kingdom works. God multiplies what is valued. He breathes on what is stewarded. He increases what is used, not what is hidden. If all you have feels small, you are not disqualified. You are positioned. God often starts with little because it keeps Him at the center. When increase comes, there is no confusion about who deserves the glory. When God multiplies what you placed in His hands, praise naturally rises to Him.
Do not hide what God has entrusted to you. Do not wait for a bigger season to be obedient. Use what you have. Serve where you are. Honor the assignment in front of you. Faithfulness today unlocks authority tomorrow.
Prayer: Lord, forgive me for the times I have minimized what You placed in my hands. Help me to be faithful with what I have right now. Teach me to value the small assignments and trust You with the increase. I give You what I have and ask You to breathe on it for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, amen.
