Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus (Part 2)

“Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness because you will have the light that leads to life.” John 8:12

Sometimes life isn’t easy. There were a lot of stressed-out people in the story of Jesus’s birth. Luke 2:8-9 said that they were terrified when the angel appeared to the shepherds in the field. A light shined down from Heaven and they were scared to death.

Possibly, some sudden changes in your life have you shaken. Maybe you’ve gotten an x-ray and don’t know what you will do. You feel terrified and filled with panic. Maybe your job or financial situation is spinning out of control, and you feel scared and don’t know how to fix it. You are filled with the terror of not knowing what’s coming next.

Then there were the wise men. They had traveled through the desert for months searching for a predicted Savior who was supposed to be born. It was a heat-filled, 106-degree harsh terrain, and they had likely been traveling over four months. The thought probably crossed their mind - “Why don’t we just give up? Why don’t we just quit? This is stupid. Why are we following this star? We don’t even know where we’re going or where we will end up. Why are we doing this?” They were totally worn down and stressed out. Have you ever been so tired that you just wanted to give up? You just wanted to quit your job, walk away from your marriage, or stop praying for that rebellious child. Have you ever been worn out and weary from trying to accomplish something that just doesn’t seem to happen? The journey can seem so long and hard.

Well, there is good news. Everything changed when these people decided to look up instead of give up. When you turn your eyes to Jesus, everything changes.
