Live Inside Out (Part 2)
“…and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7
Anyone whose focus is all about the outward life and not the inner life is a miserable person. The pursuit of material things, the pride of life, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes will never truly make anyone happy. That’s why Jesus said we must be born again. He knew we needed a change on the inside. And when you begin to live from the inside out, your joy will not be determined by the storm on the outside. You could be going through troubles and trials on all sides, but you will still have peace that “surpasses all understanding.” You will walk in a confidence that everything’s going to be alright.
When you think of living inside out, imagine someone wearing a shirt that is turned inside out. The first thing you will notice is the tag sticking out. People will know who created the shirt whether it is Tommy Hilfiger or Armani. In the same way, living inside out will reveal to the world who you belong to. Your passion and devotion to God will stand out like a tag, telling the world you are a child of God.
The tag of a garment will also reveal if it is 100 percent real. When you live inside out people will be able to tell that you are not a “Christian” who only loves God on Sundays. You worship and talk to God all week long. He is constantly in your thoughts. He is not a compartment of your life, He is woven into the very fabric of who you are. You aren’t 60 percent Christian and 40 percent party animal. You are the real deal. Who you are in private matches who you are in public.
An inside out shirt will also reveal its seams. The seams are the most vulnerable part of the shirt. If you put enough pressure on it, a shirt can be pulled apart at the seams. But people who live from the inside out and love God with all of their heart will display a thread of faith. While others may fall apart at the seams when troubles come, you will not. People will witness you going to church and worshiping God anyway. They will see you smiling despite the chaos. They will want what you have because they see a strength in you that doesn’t make sense under the circumstances.
