Keep Your Eyes Fixed On Jesus

“And this I say for your own profit, not that I may put a leash on you, but for what is proper, and that you may serve the Lord without distraction.” 1 Corinthians 7:35

In Matthew 14:28-32 we learn a great lesson about distractions. “And Peter answered Him and said, ‘Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.’ So He said, ‘Come.’ And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, ‘Lord, save me!’ And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand, caught him, and said to him, ‘O you of little faith, why did you doubt?’ And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.”

Peter was successful until he was distracted. He was right in the middle of a miracle, but he took his eyes off of Jesus. When you are in the middle of a storm, the only thing that can stop Jesus from getting to you is the enemy getting you distracted. When God is going to do something miraculous, unusual, and incredible in your life, it is usually preceded by a storm of adversity, negativism, or setbacks.

Peter was walking in victory, but then he heard the wind and saw the waves. Many times, God will do great things in your life, but then suddenly, you start hearing the thunderous claps of discouragement. You see the bright flashes of fear and failure. You may experience waves crashing down as a storm breaks out in your life causing you to be paralyzed by thoughts of disaster. If you’re in a storm, the word of the Lord to you today is to just keep walking. Don’t quit and don’t give up. Keep walking because you’re on a collision course with a miracle. Jesus is by your side, and you have nothing to fear.

Galatians 6:9 in the Amplified Bible says, “Let us not grow tired of doing good, for unless we throw in our hand, the ultimate harvest is assured.” Unless you quit, the ultimate harvest that God has promised you is assured. God is working out His will and plan.

Your job is not to get distracted by things that would kill your faith and cause you to be caught up in fear and torment. Don’t allow the enemy to use circumstances or negative people to distract you and get your eyes off of Jesus. The enemy knows that if he can get you to look at your surroundings you will begin to sink. No matter what you are walking through in this season keep your eyes fixed on Jesus and He will get you to the other side. Jesus is stronger and mightier than the storm you’re facing.
