It’s Time To Move
“Then the angel said to him, ‘Put on your clothes and sandals.’ And Peter did so. ‘Wrap your cloak around you and follow me,’ the angel told him.” Acts 12:8
In Exodus 12, the Israelites were instructed to eat the Passover meal “with a belt on your waist, with sandals on your feet, and with a staff in your hand.” A belt was used in those days to hold up a robe so a person could walk or run quickly and not trip. God was telling the people that they were about to move from bondage to freedom, and they needed to get ready to move.
God wants you to be ready with expectation in this new season to move into victory. You need to be ready to transition out of the past and into a new level and fresh beginning that He has promised for your life. You have to cast off the burdens and grievances of your last season. Some of you can’t move on because the “garment” of your last season keeps tripping you up.
In the south, there is a saying, “Take off your shoes and stay awhile.” That means get comfortable and settle in. And some of you have become so comfortable with the way things are that you just accept them. You may be accepting so much less than what God wants you to have. Maybe you have taken your shoes off and stopped expecting God to do a new thing. But God may be wanting to change your scene. There are divine moments of change where the valley has come to an end, or the trial is terminated. You may have thought a season was your story, but that season was just a chapter. There’s so much more to your story.
There are too many barefooted people in God’s kingdom. Maybe you’ve made yourself comfortable in your hurt, misery, bitterness, unforgiveness, depression, or addiction. You haven’t been expecting anything to change, but when you fast, pray, and believe, get ready to move! Get ready to leave bondage, poverty, and debt behind. You will be exiting the enemy’s camp and moving into God’s land. Get ready for a change of scenery for you and your family. Put on your shoes and grab your walking stick because it’s time to move!
