The Bibas Family: A Tragedy That Touched the World

The Bibas family—Ariel and Kfir, captured the hearts of people across the globe. The haunting images of tiny children wrapped in their mother’s arms during their violent abduction spread worldwide, leaving an indelible mark on humanity’s collective conscience.

Today, as their bodies are solemnly returned to Israeli soil, we pause to reflect on the profound impact the Bibas family's ordeal has had on the world. In photos and videos, we recall how their captivity stirred global outrage, compassion, and countless calls for their release. But today is also a day of unbearable loss.

As the coffins of the two babies,—return home, a heavy, bitter silence blankets Eshkol, Israel, and our entire JFMM community. It’s a silence too deep for words, a sorrow too vast for language.

The shocking findings: "Ariel and Kfir were brutally murdered in Gaza during the early weeks of the war in cold blood. They were not killed by gunfire – they were killed by hand, and then terrible acts were committed to cover it up."

On this day, we weep — together.
"Whoever cries at night, whoever hears their cry, cries along with them."

This ancient saying reminds us of the enduring power of solidarity. Nighttime tears may feel lonely, but when that cry reaches the ears of others, no heart can remain unmoved.

Today, JFMM stands united—carrying the grief of Eshkol, the State of Israel, and the entire Jewish people. We stand in mourning, in remembrance, and in unwavering commitment — because the pain of one is the pain of us all.

For over 500 days, JFMM, together with our friends in the Eshkol Region and across Israel, prayed endlessly for the safe return of the Bibas family — abducted on October 7 during the deadliest massacre the Jewish people have faced since the Holocaust. In Eshkol, mothers tucked their children into bed with trembling hands, tears falling in silent grief, haunted by the fate of Shiri and her babies.

We will Never Again forget the chilling image of Shiri Bibas, clutching her redheaded children, her arms a fragile shield, her eyes wide with terror, her screams reverberating across the world — as merciless terrorists tore her from her home.

We will Never Again allow the clenched fist of an infant, barely a year old, to represent helplessness — a toddler, pacifier in his mouth, struggling to soothe himself under the shadow of drawn rifles.

We will Never Again stand silent as an elderly man, a peacemaker, is kidnapped, wounded, and brutally murdered by those who know no mercy.

Once, we thought the haunting image of the Jewish boy with raised hands during the liquidation of the Warsaw Ghetto was a warning — a haunting echo from the past that declared: "Never Again."

But today, the faces of Shiri Bibas and her two redheaded children have become a modern symbol of unbearable vulnerability — a reminder that the threat of cruelty endures and demands our unwavering vigilance.

JFMM’s commitment to strengthening, comforting, and standing with the people of Eshkol will carry on for generations.

Today, we cry.
Tomorrow, we rise.

We will continue to comfort Eshkol, to protect and bless the Jewish people, and to fortify our sacred promise that "Never Again" is not just a phrase — it is our mission, our duty, and our unbreakable vow.
