Why Israel?

Israel has survived as a people and as a nation against all odds. The nation has suffered unprovoked wars, genocide, slavery and every physical and rhetorical attack imaginable. Even today they are under attack physically, spiritually and politically. God has called us to stand with them. We are instructed in Isaiah 40 to comfort God's people, in Psalm 122 to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and in Isaiah 61 to provide for those who grieve in Zion.

Projects

Thousands of missiles a year, sometimes hundreds per day, are fired into Israel. The Eshkol Regional Council lies in southern Israel, bordering the infamous Gaza strip. When the sirens sound, whether you’re a 97-year-old Holocaust survivor, or a 3-month-old infant, you have 15 seconds to make it into a bomb shelter before an explosion.

250 people lost their homes, their belongings, and generations of irreplaceable heirlooms in minutes as their community was consumed by fire. Forced to evacuate immediately, all that survived was the little they could carry in their hands. We are committed to help rebuild, replant and restore this Jewish community.

Today there are roughly 190,000 Holocaust survivors living in Israel, but that number is dwindling quickly—there’s no time to waste. Many of these men and women who faced the most horrific event in history are now living out their final days in poverty and isolation. We want to help secure food, housing, and even daily visits for them.

How can we help?

"For if the Gentiles have shared in the Jews’ spiritual blessings, they owe it to the Jews to share with them their material blessings" (Romans 15:27). We want to bring comfort in the most practical ways we can—by giving them shelter, food, protection and providing essential needs to make sure they know they are not alone.

For Michal Uziyahu and her family, Israel is home. It's more than the place where their house is; it’s where they belong. For them, knowing they have friends on this side of the ocean brings peace and strength to keep going.

Mevo Modiim

Shalom Schwartz lost every earthly belonging when his community Moshav Mevo Modi'im was ravished by fire. It was a somber scene to tour the village in ashes and see his home of 40 years with very little left, but his spirit of courage and victory is one we can all learn from. “We never gave up on God, and God never gave up on us.” -Shalom
