Your Third Coat Is Coming!

“And to Joseph were born two sons before the years of famine came…Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: “For God has made me forget all my toil and all my father’s house.” And the name of the second he called Ephraim: “For God has caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.” Genesis 41:50-52

In the story of Joseph there are three coats. First, Joseph was given a coat of favor from his father. Despite the fact that this coat was ripped off of him by his own brothers, Joseph continued to bear the fruit of God’s spirit. Even as a slave he kept a good heart and a serving attitude. Then when Joseph worked for Potiphar, his second coat got stripped from him as he fled from Potiphar’s wife who was trying to seduce him. But God saw and took note of his self control.

The enemy may have stripped off your coat but he can’t take away the God who gave you the coat! You are still a winner because of who you are in Christ. He is your source. Potiphar’s wife accused Joseph of rape and had him thrown into prison but God raised him up. In Genesis 41, Pharaoh took his own coat off and placed it on Joseph. He told everyone in the kingdom to bow down to him because he had something special in him.

God has a third coat scheduled for your life. The devil may have stripped coats off of you and tried to destroy you, but your third coat is coming. It is the coat of a victor, not a victim. It is the coat of the overcomer.

By the time Joseph was an old man he had lived through a lot of hard times. After he received his third coat he had two sons. The first son was named Manasseh which means, “The Lord has made me to forget the pain of my father’s house.” One day God will heal your heart of all the hardships you have endured.

Joseph’s second son was named Ephraim which means “fruitful in my affliction.” God made Joseph fruitful through the peril that he went through. God will also use what was meant to harm you for the good of His kingdom. He may not take you out of your challenging situation but you can be certain that He will take you up!
