Together, we are feeding the hungry in Haiti
Our ministry partners in Haiti shared this story with us. Thank you for your generosity in making this possible. We couldn't do it without you!
Greetings from Haiti. We just received your wonderful blessing of $10,000 for a container of Feed My Starving Children food and 272,000 wonderful meals! We cannot possibly explain what this food means to the poor. One would have to live in Haiti, among the poor, in order to realize this, but the stories are real and heartbreaking! Many fathers have abandoned their families, saying they are going to the Dominican Republic to look for work. And that they will send money back. The truth is that they abandon their families and never return to Haiti. How can a mother with five children living in the mountains possibly be able to feed her children? It is impossible. Now, we are seeing more small children and toddlers coming to our Malnutrition Clinic.
A sweet young girl, Dasca, lives in a small village on the side of the lake that separates us from the Dominican Republic. She lives with her aunt because her parents are dead. While visiting the village, trying to find those who need food the worst, one of our workers met Dasca. She is about 7 or 8, but she doesn't know how old she is. She has never been to school.
They told our workers a story... She overheard her aunt discussing some things with a neighbor. Her aunt said, "I cannot continue to feed Dasca. I cannot even feed my own children." Her neighbor said, "Why don't you just sell Dasca? Some man would love to have her.."
Fear gripped Dasca for days.. But, when we came with food, we had a chance to talk to her aunt. We gave her food and money to start a small business. Now, Dasca is getting a uniform made for school; her aunt has a little business, and they can enjoy the FMSC food you send each month to this village and many other villages.
Pastor Jentezen, there are many little "Dasca's" here in Haiti. We just wanted you to know how much we love you and to tell you with all our hearts we do not even have the words to say, "Thank you." We love you and your staff and your donors with all our hearts. We send a humble "thank you, at the bottom of our hearts!
