Fathers: It’s Not Your Fault, But It Is Your Responsibility

“The Lord God called to the man, ‘Where are you?’” Genesis 3:9

God didn’t ask, “Eve, where are you?” Even though she took the first bite, God called out to Adam. Why? Because even if it wasn’t Adam’s fault, it was his responsibility. And as a father, it’s yours too. You carry the spiritual weight for your home. That doesn't mean you have all the answers. It means you’re the one who keeps showing up - in prayer, in love, and in integrity. You’re the one who says, “I’ll take this to God.” You’re the one who lifts your family when they get down. You may feel inadequate. You may be tired. But God desires to partner with you in leading your home.

Don’t believe the lie that says you're not needed. The serpent still speaks, not just to Eve, but to the whole family. And if you don’t lead, he will. He doesn’t need your permission. He just needs your absence.

Fathers, when you stand up, God stands with you.

You may be broken. You may have failed. You may even be trying to rebuild what you once neglected. But God honors a man who says, “I’ll be responsible.” He didn’t quit on you. He came after you. He carried a cross not because your sin was His fault, but because He took responsibility for your redemption. That’s covenant love. That’s what He offers you. And that’s what you’re called to give, to your wife, your children, and your home. So today, if God were to ask, “Where are you?” how would you answer?

If you are a Father, pray this special prayer today: “Lord, help me carry what you've trusted me with. I may not feel strong enough, but you are. Teach me to lead with love, to serve with humility, and to be present in the place you’ve called me to stand. Thank you for taking responsibility for me, even when it was all my fault. Help me do the same for those you've placed in my life. Amen.”
