There's Something About That Name

Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow … and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (Philippians 2:9-11 NKJV).

There isn’t a more articulate way to express the power in the name of Jesus than Gloria Gaither’s monologue between the verses of the song, Something About That Name:

“The mere mention of His name can calm the storm, heal the broken, raise the dead. At the name of Jesus I’ve seen sin-hardened men broken, derelicts transformed, the light of hope put into the eyes of a hopeless child. At the name of Jesus hatred and bitterness turn to love and forgiveness, arguments cease …”

I cannot begin to recall all the times I’ve cried out His name. I’m sure you, too, can remember moments you’ve whispered His name when no other words were needed. There is great comfort in saying, “Jesus”, yet at the same time it evokes such power. Speaking His name brings relief from pain, peace in fear and so much more.

What are you calling on His name for today? You can be healed calling His name. Grief and sorrow can leave you while joy fills your heart as you call out, “Jesus!”

HEAR THE SOUND . . . TODAY PROCLAIM:
Jesus, Your name is great and wonderful above all names. My redemption and salvation rest in Your name. My past is forgiven and my future is established in Your name. Help me to walk in the power and strength of Your name today.
