The Gift That Lasts Forever

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

Christmas invites you to think beyond the moment and into eternity. As uncomfortable as it may sound, every one of us will face death. And the truth is, you will spend far more time on the other side than you ever will here. Scripture reminds us that even a long life is brief in the span of eternity. Seventy years, eighty if strength allows. That is not much time at all.

Life can turn in a single hour. One decision, one moment, one season can redirect everything. That is why eternity matters. You are not truly ready to live until you are ready to face forever.

Christmas is not just a holiday. It’s a revelation of the greatest event in history. God stepped into time so that you could step into eternity with Him.

Jesus split history with His birth. Even the calendar we use points back to Him. Every birthday, every year, every moment is measured because Christ came. And He came for one reason—to reach you. If God wanted to communicate His love to animals, He would have become one. But He chose to become human, because you matter most to Him.

He did not arrive in fire or thunder. He came as a baby. Gentle. Approachable. Unthreatening. A baby does not make you afraid. A baby invites you close. God wanted you to know that you do not need to fear Him. Your struggles matter to Him. Your questions and future matter to Him.

Eternal life is not just about heaven someday. It is about peace today. The peace of God that goes beyond understanding can steady your heart right now, even in grief, uncertainty, and pain. When you stop trying to save yourself and simply trust Him, He steps in and takes over.

This Christmas, unwrap the greatest gift of all. Jesus offers forgiveness, peace, and eternal life. Nothing you receive will ever compare to Him.

Prayer: Jesus, thank You for coming for me. Thank You for loving me enough to step into this world so I could have eternal life. I trust You with my present and my future. Fill my heart with Your peace this Christmas and anchor my life in You forever. Amen.
