The Blood, The Water, and The Name

“And the water which you take from the river will become blood on the dry land.” Exodus 4:9 (NKJV)

You’ve heard about water baptism and maybe even participated in it, but have you ever understood the power behind it? Have you stopped to consider that when God gave Moses that final sign of turning water into blood, He was giving us a glimpse of something deeper? Something that would echo all the way into the New Testament?

God told Moses to take ordinary water and pour it out. And He said, “When you do that in faith, I’ll transform it. I’ll turn it into blood.” That sign wasn’t just for Pharaoh. It was also for Moses to prove that God had the power to take something natural and make it supernatural. That water became a witness. It testified that when you mix obedience with faith, miracles follow.

The first plague in Egypt was water turning into blood. Jesus’s first miracle was at a wedding, turning water into wine. And what did He say later? “This cup is the new covenant in my blood.” Wine, just like blood, became a symbol of His sacrifice. God was showing us something.

The waters of baptism are more than a ritual. They are a declaration.

A burial of the old you. A cleansing. A supernatural moment when what’s natural is touched by heaven.

When you confess your sins, He forgives you. But when you get in the water in obedience to His name and are baptized into Jesus Christ - that’s where the past gets washed away. The shame, the sin, and the history that tried to define you doesn’t stand a chance when the water is mixed with His name and your faith.

The water of baptism is no ordinary water. This is water that meets the blood. This is the place where your yesterday ends and your new life begins.

So if you’re ready to walk in mercy, if you want to be free, and if you're ready to leave the past behind once and for all, get in the water. If you have never been baptized, don’t wait. Don’t hesitate. Get baptized in the name of Jesus. The water is ready, and so is your new beginning.
