Guard The Treasure

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” John 10:10 (ESV)

You may not be fighting in a war zone, but you’re in a battle every day. A battle for what truly matters — your home, your marriage, your children, and your legacy. There’s a real enemy who isn’t just attacking you to frustrate your plans or ruin your day. He’s after the treasures. He wants to steal the very things that carry generational value.

During World War II, a group of brave individuals known as the Monuments Men were tasked with something remarkable. These weren’t typical soldiers. They were museum curators, artists, architects. They were people who understood the priceless nature of what they were fighting to protect. Sent by President Eisenhower, they went into active war zones, risking their lives to preserve Europe’s cultural treasures - paintings, sculptures, and cathedrals, all with one purpose: to save them for future generations.

They understood that art wasn’t just decoration. It was identity. It was history. It told a story that mattered. And they were willing to risk everything to protect it. You have treasures too. And they’re not hanging on a museum wall. They sit at your dinner table. They call you “Mom” or “Dad.” They walk through the doors of your home with dreams in their hearts. Your spouse, your children, your legacy — these are the treasures the enemy is after. He knows if he can break down your family, he can ruin your future.

Don’t let him. Don’t let bitterness take root. Don’t let disappointment grow into destruction. Hitler’s rejection from an art academy sparked hatred that led to the deaths of millions. All because a wounded place was never healed. But you serve a God who restores what’s broken. Who gives abundant life. Who says your family is worth fighting for. Like the Monuments Men, step into the battle with purpose. Guard the treasure.

Preserve what matters.

Because the greatest work of art in your life isn’t what you build with your hands. It’s who you’re becoming and what you’re passing on.
