Five Powerful Prayers to Pray
"Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he." Proverbs 29:18 (KJV)
Life is full of challenges, distractions, and moments that make us feel overwhelmed. Sometimes, we get so focused on the small stuff that we miss the big picture God is working out for our lives. That’s why perspective is crucial.
For anyone trying to follow God’s plan who is reading this today, take a moment this week to pray intentionally. I want to give you five prayers, all starting with “P,” so you can remember them easily and release your faith to God. Today, let’s focus on the first one: Perspective.
Think about it—there was a man who worked in a factory. Every day, he swept up wood shavings and put them in a wheelbarrow. Each day, he would do this at the end of his shift and wheel them to his truck. The security guard worked inside and only saw him leave out the back door each day with the shavings. But he did find it odd and eventually asked him what he was doing. As it turned out, the man had been stealing wheelbarrows! What’s the lesson here? Sometimes, we get so caught up in the small things, the “wood shavings” of life, that we miss the real work God is doing.
God’s perspective can shift everything. Remember the story of Elisha and his servant? The servant saw an army surrounding them and panicked. Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord.” Suddenly, the servant saw the hills full of chariots of fire. God had their enemies surrounded. The situation hadn’t changed, but his perspective did.
You’re either looking at the enemy or the angels. You’re focused on your problem or God’s promises.
Whatever trial or challenge you’re facing, God is orchestrating a bigger plan than you can see. Romans 8:28 reminds us, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” (KJV)
So, today, make this your prayer: “Lord, help me see life through Your eyes. Show me the big picture. Let me see Your promises and Your provision, not just the temporary challenges in front of me.” When you align your perspective with God’s, fear and worry begin to fade, and faith grows.
Don’t get stuck on the wood shavings. Look for the chariots of fire. God is bigger than your problem, and He’s working everything together for your good. Keep your eyes on Him, and let His perspective guide every step you take this week.
